Joy's Quirks
- I drink distilled water because I want to reduce my exposure to free radicals which cause cancer. So how do I get my Calcium, Magnesium and Sodium? Calcium I get from milk, which I love to drink. Magnesium I get from green leafy stuff like spinach and lettuce. Sodium is in my salt shaker.
- I seldom wear hairspray. When I was in high school someone tried to light my hair on fire as I was walking through the halls. I didn't notice until I got to class an smelled something burning. Fortunately I wasn't wearing hairspray, otherwise I'd probably have some severe burns. I only had some singed hair, which I trimmed off when I got home.
- I like to peel my lima beans before I eat them. Yes, one by one. (They taste better that way.)
- When I was in college in the evening when I would read my textbooks I would eat a pint or two of ice cream to keep myself awake.
- I like to read through my books in this cycle: Classical (being something written before about 1925 or something historical), Science Fiction / Fantasy, Mystery, Other (Preferably fiction, but sometimes I read nonfiction).
- I am a self admitted wikipedia-holic (Wikipedia.org). And when I don't have something at the top of my mind to lookup, I read articles on this schedule: Mon - medical field, Tues - literature, Wed - free, Thurs - Civil/electricaL engineering ,Fri - plants.
- I love dairy foods (ice cream, yogurt, sour cream, milk, cheese - especially fontina, but NOT cream cheese). Why is this a quirk? Because a lot of Asians are lactose intolerant
