What happened this past month (November):
The first weekend of November Joy and Nathan switched off of daylight savings time. It is a little depressing to come home in the dark now. We also made cupcakes for new members of our ward.
The second weekend we went out to eat at Pandera Bread. Afterwards we played miniature golf at a place called Camelot. We played Course 1 (of 5) and Joy got 61 and Nathan got 66. Maybe someday we'll go back and try the other courses. We also had a new member social on Sunday evening. The theme was "Everything Pumpkin." Unfortunately, that evening also coincided with a surprise fireside for the youth, so we didn't get a big turnout. But at least we got to meet Katie and Dave. They're such a cute couple.
The third weekend we went to a Platinum Properties seminar on Saturday. Nathan is thinking about putting part of his IRA into an investment property. We're still thinking about it. After that we had dinner with friends: Don, Fran, and Gabby. It must have been a busy night at Buca de Beppo because their service was terrible. On Sunday we had dinner with our friends Kim and Dave. They made a delicious dinner. After that we went to the Sixth Annual Thanksgiving Interfaith Choir Festival. It was fun to see Br. Thorkelson again and hear from the lovely choirs. The boys choir was amazing. I don't think I can sing as high as they do.
The fourth weekend we had a mellow stay at home date night. We had a candlelight dinner, played scrabble, watched a DVD, and cleaned up a bit because our parents were coming into town for the Thanksgiving holiday. April also came to visit us from Ohio. We had lots of yummy food to eat. Daddy fixed up the house, cleaned the drains out (I didn't know we had so much hair stuck in there!), and patched the ceramic sink with this enamel sink repair goo. Wednesday evening we ate at one of our favorite places - Las Brisas - where we had nachos and berry tostadas as usual. Thursday we had a Thanksgiving lunch, went to the beach, and played games. Friday we went to the Getty Villa in Malibu, which was designed after the Villa di papyri in Herculanium, Italy. Mom and Dad had been to see that archeological dig, so they were excited to see it. We spent the whole day there. Saturday we had dim sum at NBC Seafood restaurant. Then we went shopping in that chinatown.
Current callings: Nathan - ward clerk; Joy - Sunbeam teacher and choir accompanist.
Nathan is still reading a book called The Joseph Smith Papers volume 1, which he got from Mom and Dad for his birthday. He says he will probably be reading this for MONTHS, so don't expect much change here.
Joy was still reading Vernor Vinge's True Names... and Other Dangers .
She might take a break this next month and read Christmas stories.
