What happened this past month (October):
The first weekend of October Joy and Nathan had their friends the Swensons down from Idaho. They had fun at Disneyland and the beach. Also Joy and Nathan enjoyed the semi-annual conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joy took notes and Nathan listened. It's always good to be spiritually fed by those who are very close to the Lord. Joy also planted some cilantro, lettuce and snow peas. (They are winter crops here where it's warm all year.)
The second weekend in October we had Joy's parents come visit. We ate at Las Brisas, Sam woo's, and King's Fish House. They brought a new, bigger, dining room table, so now we can seat 8 at dinner without needing to use a card table. They also helped tighten a garage door spring that we replaced the week before, and they schlacked (spelling?) the new dining room table.
The third weekend we had dinner with Joy's NDS friends: Mark and Mina, Natalie and Dmitri, and Victor and Yi-Ping. We had Korean food at this place called Goong Restaurant and had dessert at Lollicup. They have yummy smooties. Also that Sunday the Primary had their annual Primary Program at the church. They kids did such a good job.
The fourth weekend Joy was feeling a little under the weather, so she mostly rested. Saturday evening at church we had our Trunk-or-Treat activity. We passed out nestle candy that we got from Costco (about 8 cents each). It included Kit-kats, Snickers, M&Ms, Almond Joy, Hershey's chocolate, Milky Way, Reese's Peanut Butter cups, and Nestle Crunch. Nathan dressed up as the Phantom of the Opera, and Joy dressed up as Christine. Other things we were thinking about included Abraham Lincoln and a Leprechaun.
Current callings: Nathan - ward clerk; Joy - Sunbeam teacher and choir accompanist.
Nathan is still reading a book called The Joseph Smith Papers volume 1, which he got from Mom and Dad for his birthday. He says he will probably be reading this for MONTHS, so don't expect much change here.
Joy had read Voltaire's Candide.
Joy is currently reading Vernor Vinge's True Names... and Other Dangers .
Joy has been lazy about updating her database of books (see link below).
