What happened this past month (August):
The first weekend of August Joy and Nathan went to the Laguna Beach Art Festival courtesy of Joy's coworker, Ed. We saw the festival, and also went to Tivoli too. We also sat and listened to the live band. We didn't have time to go see the Sawdust festival, but that's probably for the best since Joy probably would have bought more cute ceramic mushrooms.
The second weekend in August we went out to see two of Nathan's friends. On Friday we had dinner with Don and Fran and Outback - their treat. They are nice people. They are hoping to move out to Prescott Arizona some day when they can sell their house. Then on Saturday we saw Brett and Rebecca at a new restaurant called Blackwood. It was pretty good. They had dinner meals for ten dollars. Brett and Rebecca showed us all the nifty apps they've got on their iPhones. They can look up birds, pretend like they are fighting with light sabers, etc.
The third weekend we went to a Dreyer's Ice Cream party that our friends Camille and Andy won online. They had all kinds of yummy ice cream. We brought whipped cream to add to it. It also turned out to kind-of be a going away party because they are moving to Texas, where Andy is going to be starting his own company. Joy had the Chocolate Brownie first, and then the Cookies and Cream afterwards. Nathan only had the cookies and cream. Mmm! Thanks Camille and Andy for inviting us! We hope your move to Texas went well.
Also that third weekend we had the sister missionaries over for dinner. We enjoyed talking with Sister Pratt and Terry. They challenged us to serve people in our neighborhood. So far we've done that by bringing treats to new people. Maybe we'll be able to think of more things as time goes on.
The fourth weekend we were going to have Stacey and Brian over for dinner. However, Stacey came down with a cold. Instead we had Brian and their oldest son Blake over for dinner. Blake was a very good boy and played quietly as we enjoyed talking.
The fifth weekend we went to Trinity's birthday party. Boy they sure had a lot of fun things there. They had a table for making masks. They had a tent with sand in it to open dinosaur eggs and color them. There was also a huge inflatable water slide, which even adults could go down. And as usual they had a piñata and cake. Dave did a wonderful job at the grill. Happy seventh Birthday Trinity!
Current callings: Nathan - ward clerk; Joy - Sunbeam teacher.
Nathan is still reading a book called The Joseph Smith Papers volume 1, which he got from Mom and Dad for his birthday. He says he will probably be reading this for MONTHS, so don't expect much change here.
Joy had read Led By the Hand of Christ by Suzanne Freeman.
Joy is currently reading Voltaire's Candide which is rather depressing... at least so far.
