What happened this past month (June):
The first weekend of June Joy and Nathan went to Stake Conference. We were in a rush, so we tried to find Flamingo's Mexican restaurant, but it didn't come up in Nathan's navigator. We ended up at Pizza Hut for dinner and had gelato for dessert at a nearby gelateria.
The second weekend we had Don and Fran over for dinner on Saturday. They brought a delicious lasagne, and we had a ceasar salad and no dessert because we were all full. It was fun to hear all the exciting stories about Don & Fran's lives. They sure have done a lot of things in this life. On Sunday our friends Bob and Ellen came over for dinner. We had a beef pasta casserole - except we had ground turkey in the casserole instead of beef because Nathan's cholesterol is a little high. They brought over a delicious dessert tray with mouse filled chocolate cups, eclairs, cheesecake, and chocolate covered strawberries. They said it came from Rockwell's in Villa Park. We'll have to visit that place.
The third weekend Grandma & Grandpa Logan came to visit us along with Aunt Lynn and Uncle Douglas. We ate out at Cosmo's - a neighborhood Italian restaurant. As usual it was fun hearing about their lives. My cousin Lee has graduated from high school and will be attending USC this fall. Then on Saturday we had our NDS dinner with friends (Victor, Eping, Divya, Atul, Natalie, Dmitri, Ajit, Vandana, Mark and Mina). We went to our house afterwards for games. We placed 'You might be a redneck if...', and unfortunately we proved ourselves to be rednecks.
The fourth weekend we had dinner at Zov's bistro with our friends John & Iris. They are doing well, though Iris is currently working in L.A. which is a long commute. Fortunately she only has to do that for another couple of weeks. They are really enjoying their garden plot that the Benner's are letting them use. They go twice a week to water, harvest, and weed. I learned from Iris about gardening in Southern California. She said that green leafy vegetables are better off in the winter when it's cool. Carrots, beets and other root vegetables too. I didn't even know that before. That would explain why my lettuce died and my cilantro too. Our tomatoes have always done fine, but then they like the sun. So I'm going to try growing things over the winter season to see if that works out better for some of our plants.
Joy has finished reading a book by Anthony J. Sattilaro, MD. called Recalled By Life.
Next she's going to rotate through four short story books for a month or so.
Joy has been lazy about updating her database of books (see link below).
Happy Summer!
